Afghanistan, Aug. 17 -- Supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan held demonstrations outside the residences of governors in all four provinces on Sunday, protesting rising inflation, higher fuel prices and taxes on petroleum products.

The Express Tribune reported on Sunday, August 16, that Jamaat-e-Islami supporters gathered in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the opposition party stepped up pressure on the federal government over the rising cost of living.

The protesters accused the government of poor economic management and demanded reductions in fuel prices. They also called for greater transparency over the taxes collected on petroleum products and questioned how the additional revenue is being used.
