Afghanistan, May 16 -- At least six people were killed, including three emergency responders, after Israeli strikes targeted a civil defense center in southern Lebanon despite the extension of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, Lebanese state media reported.
The attacks also wounded 22 others, according to Lebanese authorities, as tensions continued along the border even after the United States announced a 45-day extension of the truce between the two sides.
US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the extension followed two days of "constructive" negotiations mediated by Washington between Israeli and Lebanese officials.
