Afghanistan, May 17 -- Israel said its military struck around 100 targets in southern Lebanon over the past two days, despite a newly announced extension of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah.

According to Al Jazeera, the strikes were carried out across several areas in southern Lebanon during the weekend, with the Israeli military claiming the targets were linked to Hezbollah positions and infrastructure.

The escalation comes only days after negotiators from both sides agreed to extend the existing ceasefire by another 45 days following talks mediated by the United States.
