Afghanistan, June 8 -- Israel launched strikes on targets in Iran late Sunday after Iranian missiles were fired toward northern Israel, escalating tensions despite reported efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump to prevent further military retaliation.

According to Iranian state media, powerful explosions were heard in Tehran and the central city of Isfahan, while semi-official outlets reported additional blasts in Tabriz and other locations in western Iran. Iranian authorities have not yet released details on casualties or damage.
