Afghanistan, May 16 -- Israel and Lebanon agreed to extend their ceasefire for 45 days after US-mediated talks aimed at preventing wider regional escalation.
The United States said Israel and Lebanon agreed to extend their ceasefire for another 45 days following two days of US-mediated negotiations in Washington.
Tommy Pigott said in a statement that political negotiations between Lebanese and Israeli representatives will resume on June 2 and 3 under US sponsorship.
He added that a separate security track involving military delegations from both countries will begin on May 29 at the Pentagon.
