Afghanistan, May 14 -- Abbas Araghchi on Thursday called on BRICS nations to take a united stance against what he described as violations of international law by the United States and Israel, saying the bloc could play a major role in shaping a "fairer and more balanced" global order.

Speaking during the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting in New Delhi, Araghchi criticized unilateral policies and said many countries had experienced pressure and coercive approaches from major powers.

The Iranian foreign minister said rising global tensions showed how declining powers attempt to preserve influence through destabilizing actions, adding that such developments were visible across parts of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
