Afghanistan, Aug. 11 -- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tuesday that the United States initially demanded Iran's "unconditional surrender" at the start of the conflict but sought negotiations with Tehran about 20 days later.
Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, August 11, Araghchi cited U.S. President Donald Trump's early-war call for Iran to surrender unconditionally, saying Washington later shifted toward negotiations.
"This is what they wanted from us, and 20 days later, the same enemy was begging for negotiations," Araghchi said, according to Iranian media reports.
