Afghanistan, May 24 -- Iranian media reported that even if Tehran and Washington reach a peace agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will not immediately return to conditions that existed before the recent regional conflict.

Tasnim News Agency reported Sunday that the initial understanding discussed between Iran and the United States only includes restoring shipping traffic levels to pre-war volumes within 30 days.

According to the report, Iran has insisted on maintaining what it describes as its sovereign rights over the Strait of Hormuz through different measures and mechanisms.
