Afghanistan, March 10 -- Iran launched drones toward Saudi Arabia and Kuwait early Tuesday, as regional tensions escalated following overnight airstrikes across several Iranian cities.

Saudi Arabia's defense ministry said its forces intercepted at least four drones, while Kuwait's National Guard reported shooting down six drones in the north and south of the country.

The drone launches came hours after airstrikes targeted areas in Tehran, Karaj, and several central and southern cities in Iran, according to local sources and Iranian media.

Witnesses reported loud explosions across eastern and western parts of Tehran, and Mehrabad Airport was again among the locations reportedly struck.
