Afghanistan, May 13 -- Iranian authorities on Wednesday executed a man convicted of spying for Israel and transferring what state media described as "sensitive national information" to Israeli intelligence services, amid heightened security tensions following Iran's recent conflict with the United States and Israel.
Iran's judiciary-linked Mizan news agency identified the man as Ehsan Afarashteh and said the execution was carried out Wednesday morning after he was convicted of cooperating with Israel's Mossad intelligence agency.
