Afghanistan, May 5 -- The United Arab Emirates said Iran launched missile and drone attacks on an oil facility in Fujairah, causing a large fire and injuring three Indian nationals, in the first such strike since a ceasefire with the United States began in April.

UAE authorities said air defenses responded to multiple incoming threats, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones, while emergency teams contained the fire at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, a key energy export hub.

The incident followed an announcement by US President Donald Trump that American forces would help escort commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a move Iran rejected, warning that foreign forces entering the waterway would be attacked.
