Afghanistan, June 17 -- Amnesty International has said that an internet shutdown in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir has entered its 12th consecutive day, while disruptions to mobile phone services continue across the region.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Amnesty's South Asia office said the restrictions were imposed on June 5 following protest calls by the Joint Awami Action Committee of Jammu and Kashmir.
The rights group said the blackout has created an "information vacuum," limiting residents' access to information, communication services and essential public resources. It added that the restrictions have also hindered efforts to document and monitor alleged human rights violations.
