Afghanistan, May 9 -- Instagram removed millions of fake and inactive accounts in a large-scale purge, causing sudden drops in follower counts for global celebrities and major public pages.
Instagram has carried out a major cleanup of fake and inactive accounts, removing millions of profiles in a move that sharply reduced follower counts for some of the world's most followed celebrities.
The purge affected accounts belonging to global figures including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande, along with several music groups and sports stars.
