Afghanistan, March 22 -- The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned that the water crisis in Afghanistan is worsening, putting increasing pressure on vulnerable communities.

In a statement on Sunday, the organization said it helped provide access to safe drinking water for nearly one million people across Afghanistan in 2025.

The ICRC noted that women and children bear the heaviest burden of water shortages, often facing significant challenges in securing daily water needs.

In many regions, families are forced to walk for hours to find clean drinking water, highlighting the severity of the crisis and lack of infrastructure.
