Afghanistan, Aug. 19 -- The Hazara Diaspora Network has strongly condemned the explosion near Shama-e-Hedayat private school in western Kabul and called for an independent investigation into the incident, amid conflicting reports over the number of casualties.

The network said in a statement Tuesday that preliminary information indicated dozens of people had been killed or wounded, with the number of casualties reported at 52. The United Nations, however, said at least 42 children aged between 9 and 14 were wounded in the grenade explosion near the school complex, while other media reported higher figures.
