Afghanistan, June 29 -- The price of fuel has risen sharply in Kabul in recent days, with petrol increasing from 66 afghanis to 75 afghanis per litre, adding to financial pressure on households, transport operators and businesses.

Residents said the increase has significantly raised transportation and daily living costs and called on the authorities to explain the reasons behind the price hike and take measures to stabilize the market.

Afghanistan relies heavily on imported petroleum products, with much of its fuel entering through neighbouring countries, particularly Iran and the Central Asian republics.
