Afghanistan, June 2 -- France's foreign minister said there is no justification for a prolonged Israeli presence in Lebanon, as renewed military operations and cross-border tensions raise concerns about the stability of the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
Jean-Noel Barrot told French television that Lebanon's sovereignty must be respected and that the current situation cannot justify a long-term occupation of Lebanese territory.
His remarks come as Israel has expanded military operations in southern Lebanon despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to preserve a ceasefire arrangement.
