Afghanistan, June 17 -- French prosecutors have ordered 14 people, most of them Afghan and Iraqi nationals, to stand trial over a migrant boat disaster in the English Channel that killed at least 27 people in November 2021.
The suspects face charges including human smuggling, involuntary manslaughter and involvement in an organized criminal network. Prosecutors said the accused allegedly played various roles in the operation, from transporting migrants to organizing the crossing. Most of the defendants deny the charges.
