Afghanistan, June 24 -- The FBI has added fugitive businessman Khalid Ahmed Satary to its Most Wanted Fraudsters list, accusing him of involvement in a Medicare fraud scheme that allegedly generated more than $547 million in false billings and caused major losses to U.S. taxpayers.
Federal authorities announced the move as part of a nationwide healthcare fraud crackdown that resulted in charges against 455 defendants accused of schemes involving false billing, kickbacks, unnecessary medical procedures and other fraudulent activities. The U.S. Department of Justice said the cases collectively involve at least $6.5 billion in alleged fraud.
