Afghanistan, June 22 -- An explosion and fire at Qatar's main liquefied natural gas processing complex injured 54 people and left 18 others missing on Sunday, prompting a major emergency response at one of the world's most important energy facilities.

State-owned QatarEnergy said the incident occurred during the restart of operations at the Barzan gas facilities in the industrial city of Ras Laffan. The company said emergency crews were immediately deployed and the fire has since been brought under control.
