Afghanistan, Aug. 13 -- The death toll from a powerful earthquake in Colombia has risen to 265, with hundreds of people still missing and rescue teams continuing to search for survivors, Colombian authorities said.
The 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on August 10, causing widespread destruction and leaving thousands injured. Authorities said nearly 500 people remain missing as rescue operations continue in areas affected by collapsed buildings and other damage.
More than 3,700 people have been injured, according to the latest figures reported by Reuters, while more than 9,550 homes have been destroyed. Cities including Cali and Pereira have suffered significant damage.
