Afghanistan, Aug. 6 -- China has warned the United Nations Security Council that the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) and other militant groups operating from Afghanistan continue to pose a serious threat to regional security, urging the Taliban to intensify counterterrorism efforts and prevent the country from becoming a safe haven for international terrorism.
Speaking during a UN Security Council meeting on global terrorism, China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Sun Lei, said terrorist groups in Afghanistan continue to strengthen their operational capabilities despite ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
