Afghanistan, May 17 -- United Kingdom is preparing to equip its Typhoon fighter jets in the Middle East with new low-cost missile systems aimed at more effectively countering Iranian-made drones, according to British media reports.
BBC reported on Sunday that Royal Air Force Typhoon aircraft will be fitted with the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS), allowing forces to intercept aerial targets at significantly lower cost than existing missile systems.
The report said the move comes as Gulf countries and Western allies continue to face growing challenges from Iranian-made Shahed drones, which are relatively inexpensive to produce but capable of causing major military and infrastructure damage.
