Afghanistan, June 8 -- Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared victory on Monday after preliminary parliamentary election results showed his ruling Civil Contract party securing about 54% of the vote.
According to early results cited by CBC News, Pashinyan's party emerged as the clear frontrunner, while the opposition Strong Armenia party received 21.9% of the vote and the Armenia Alliance followed with 8.7%.
Speaking at a news conference, Pashinyan described the outcome as a "historic victory" and said voters had endorsed his government's policies and reform agenda. Preliminary figures indicated voter turnout reached approximately 59% of eligible voters.
