Afghanistan, Aug. 5 -- An armed man was arrested near U.S. President Donald Trump's golf club in Los Angeles two days before the president visited the property for a Republican fundraising event, authorities said on Tuesday.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the suspect was detained near Trump National Golf Club Rancho Palos Verdes during security operations conducted ahead of Trump's arrival.
Local law enforcement said the arrest was made as part of routine protective measures but did not identify the suspect or disclose the circumstances that led to the detention. Authorities also said they had not determined whether the individual posed a direct threat to the president. The investigation remains ongoing.
