Afghanistan, June 24 -- Amnesty International has strongly condemned a Pakistani court's decision to sentence two prominent Baloch activists to life imprisonment, describing the ruling as a serious violation of fair trial standards and an abuse of anti-terrorism laws.

The criticism follows a June 22 ruling by an anti-terrorism court in Quetta against Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shah Ji, both associated with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). Amnesty said the trial was conducted rapidly and behind closed doors inside a prison, without direct evidence linking the defendants to violence or the killing of a security official.
