Afghanistan, July 23 -- Amnesty International has called for an independent investigation into a Pakistani airstrike on a drug treatment centre in Kabul, saying the attack may constitute a war crime and could have violated the special protection afforded to medical facilities under international humanitarian law.
The rights group said it found no evidence supporting Pakistan's claim that the facility was being used for military purposes. Amnesty called for a prompt, independent and transparent investigation to establish what happened and determine whether those responsible should be held accountable.
