Afghanistan, May 11 -- Afghanistan's national powerlifting team won six medals at the 2026 World Powerlifting Championship in Belarus, delivering one of the country's strongest international performances in the sport in recent years.
The Afghanistan Powerlifting Federation said Afghan athletes secured four gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal during the competition, which featured more than 600 athletes from eight countries.
Afghan athletes Fawad Shirinsokhan, Jaber Shirinsokhan, Noor Ahmad Sakhizada and Mirwais Rafiizada each won gold medals for Afghanistan during the international event.
