Afghanistan, April 6 -- Recent floods across more than 20 Afghanistan provinces have killed at least 99 people and injured 154 others, disaster officials said, as heavy rain, landslides and flash flooding continued to batter large parts of the country.

The figures, released by the National Disaster Management Authority, point to a rapidly worsening humanitarian emergency in one of the world's most climate-vulnerable countries.

Agency spokesman Mohammad Yousuf Hammad said 13 people were killed and another 13 wounded in the past 24 hours alone, underscoring how quickly conditions have deteriorated.
