Afghanistan, July 6 -- Afghanistan's National Examination Authority on Monday announced the results of the 2026 national university entrance examination (Kankor), saying more than 74,500 candidates had secured admission to public universities and higher education institutions across the country. The exam was the fourth held since the Taliban returned to power in 2021.
According to the Taliban's Media and Information Center, more than 117,000 students from schools and religious seminaries across Afghanistan sat this year's Kankor examination, which was conducted in four phases. The National Examination Authority said 74,500 successful candidates were admitted under the Ministry of Higher Education's annual enrollment plan.
