Afghanistan, Oct. 2 -- An Afghan citizen has been sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to visa fraud involving applications for a U.S. Special Immigrant Visa (SIV), the U.S. Department of Justice said.

Dilbar Gul Dilbar, also known as Dilbar Gul Taj Ali Khan, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr. to visa fraud and was sentenced to six months in prison, according to the Justice Department.

According to court records and prosecutors, Dilbar paid another person in November 2017 to prepare and submit an Afghan SIV application on his behalf.
