Afghanistan, July 29 -- Germany is expanding its deportation policy to include Afghan nationals who are legally required to leave the country, even if they have not been convicted of a crime, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said after a new deportation flight to Afghanistan.
Germany deported 31 Afghan nationals on a charter flight from Leipzig, with authorities saying 30 had criminal records and one had not been convicted. The deportees were received in Afghanistan by Taliban authorities.
Dobrindt said deportations would no longer be limited to convicted offenders and could also include Afghans whose asylum applications had been rejected and who are legally required to leave Germany. He also suggested that people deemed to have faile...
