Afghanistan, Oct. 7 -- An Afghan man who fatally stabbed a 49-year-old dog walker in a random knife attack in west London has been ordered to remain indefinitely in a secure psychiatric hospital after a court found he was in a psychotic state at the time of the attack.

Dawood Safi, 28, was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of Wayne Broadhurst on the grounds of diminished responsibility. The court heard that Safi attacked Broadhurst on October 27, 2025, in Midhurst Gardens in Uxbridge, shortly after attacking his landlord, Shahzad Farrukh.
