Baramulla, May 4 -- Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Baramulla Police arrested a drug peddler and seized a psychotropic substance during naka checking at the Gulmarg Entry Point (GEP), officials said on Monday.
A Scorpio vehicle (JK05M-6306) was signalled to stop, but the driver allegedly attempted to flee upon noticing the police party. The alert naka party apprehended him on the spot, they said.
The accused was identified as Muneer Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ab Rasheed Sheikh, a resident of Lawaypora, Srinagar. On preliminary observation, he appeared to be under the influence of a psychotropic substance, police said.
