Srinagar, May 24 -- Veteran artist and Chairman of The Kashmir Music Club Srinagar, Waheed Jeelani, on Sunday called on Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and raised pressing issues concerning the artist community, including welfare measures and protection of the region's cultural identity.

Mr Jeelani, who met the Lt Governor in his capacity as President of the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, stressed the need for promotion and preservation of original art forms, particularly Sufi, folk and traditional music and dance.
