Safai Karamcharis protest in Srinagar, demand regularisation of services
Srinagar, May 30 -- Scores of sanitation workers on Saturday staged a protest outside the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies office in Bemina here, demanding regularisation of their services and implementation of pending welfare measures.
The protesters, led by representatives of sanitation workers' unions, raised slogans and urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to address their long-pending demands.
Union leaders said sanitation workers employed as casual labourers in various municipal bodies across Jammu and Kashmir have been waiting for regularisation for several years. They alleged that repeated representations to the authorities had failed to yield any results.
