He was the father of Farooq Ahmad Malik, a retired District Agriculture Officer, and Shabir Ahmad Malik, Senior Editor of Kashmir News Service (KNS). Several political, social, and religious leaders have condoled his demise. Meanwhile, Kashmir News Service Editor-in-Chief Mohd Aslam expressed deep grief over the death.
