Baramulla, April 26 -- Continuing its anti-narcotics drive, police in north Kashmir's Baramulla district have detected illegal poppy cultivation and arrested a drug peddler from Tangmarg, officials said on Sunday.
In the first incident, a patrolling party at village Yall Pattan found that one Ghulam Rasool Yatto, son of late Mohammad Zaman Yatto, had illegally cultivated poppy on his agricultural land, a police spokesperson said.
The cultivation was intended for illicit trade and unlawful gain, posing a serious threat to the youth by promoting drug abuse, the spokesperson added.
