Police action, society participation must go hand-in-hand to fight drugs: IGP Kashmir
Jammu, June 9 -- Share Tweet Share Asif Malik Srinagar, Jun 9 (KNS): The Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, V.K. Birdi on Tuesday said the Jammu and Kashmir Police is taking strict action against drug peddlers under the NDPS Act and the stringent PIT-NDPS law, especially against repeat offenders. Speaking to news agency KNS, the IGP said the police have always tried to handle the narcotics issue through a variety of ways, with the legal response being the primary mechanism. He added that peddlers who buy or sell contraband are being subjected to stern action, and those who do not stop even after legal proceedings are being booked under the PIT-NDPS Act.
