New Delhi, May 2 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday welcomed the inauguration of the 'Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of the Tathagata' in Leh on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, saying it would strengthen spiritual and cultural connect in Ladakh.

The exposition was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Leh, marking what officials described as a significant return of the sacred relics to the region.

In a post on X, Modi said the relics, linked to the Piprahwa Stupa in Kapilavastu and unearthed in the late nineteenth century, embody the enduring teachings of Lord Buddha.
