Srinagar, May 21 -- The Jammu & Kashmir People's Conference condemned the alleged house arrest of its president and Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone on the death anniversary of his father, separatist leader Abdul Gani Lone.

In a statement, the party termed the move "unfortunate and undemocratic" and said preventing Lone from paying tribute to his "martyred father" had hurt public sentiments.

"Preventing the president of JKPC and MLA Handwara from paying tribute to his martyred father is unfortunate and undemocratic.Such actions hurt public sentiments and weaken democratic values," the party said.

The party also expressed concern over the restrictions imposed on Lone and said democratic rights and political expression should be respected.(K...
