Marking the first anniversary of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 tourists, the Traders and Civil Society of Tangmarg on Wednesday organised a candlelight tribute, asserting that the tourism industry remains the backbone of the region's economy.
The attack, which took place last year in the south Kashmir tourist resort, had not only led to loss of innocent lives but also severely impacted livelihoods dependent on the hospitality sector, local stakeholders said.
Speaking on the occasion, members of the trading community and civil society expressed solidarity with the victims' families and reiterated their commitment to welcoming visitors.
