Srinagar, June 1 -- Ms Monika Dhami, a 2001-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, assumed charge as the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax here on Monday.

She is now the highest-ranked Income Tax Department officer in the region covering the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, according to an official statement.

Prior to this posting, Dhami has held key roles including a policy-making position at the Department of Economic Affairs, corporate and salary assessment charges, and a tenure as lead trainer for new civil servants at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), the apex training academy for civil services.
