Srinagar, April 18 -- Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday said Shabir Ahmed Shah, who is old and critically ailing, continues to be persecuted despite being granted bail by the Supreme Court.

In a post on X, the Mirwaiz said Shah has already served 39 years in jail for his political beliefs.

"This revolving door policy completely undermines the justice system, where one case replaces another to ensure continued incarceration," Mirwaiz said.

He appealed to the Government of India not to prolong the suffering of Shah and his family and to set him free. (KNS)
