Mirwaiz claims house arrest, says stopped from offering Friday prayers at Jama Masjid
Jammu, Aug. 7 -- Share Tweet Share Srinagar, Aug 7 (KNS): Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday claimed that he was placed under house arrest and prevented from offering the congregational Friday prayers and delivering the sermon at the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar. In a post on X, Mirwaiz said he was not informed of any reason for the restrictions imposed on his movement. He alleged that the action came shortly after the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) raised concerns over the reported sale of pork in Kashmir, and questioned the timing of the restrictions.
