Jammu, Oct. 3 -- Share Tweet Share Shopian, Oct 03 (KNS) A man was arrested here for allegedly posing as a Deputy Commissioner's office employee and cheating the family of a cancer patient of ?9,999, police said on Saturday. Farooq Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Manghama, had posted an appeal on social media seeking financial assistance for the treatment of his son, who is undergoing cancer treatment, a police spokesperson said. Taking advantage of the appeal, the accused, Umar Shameem Ganie, a resident of Memander, allegedly posed as an employee of the DC Office, Shopian, and assured the family that he would facilitate financial assistance from the Deputy Commissioner for the patient's treatment, the spokesperson said.
