Jammu, March 3 -- The Jammu Division of Northern Railway achieved a historic milestone on Tuesday by transporting rare zoo animals by train from Jammu to MGR Chennai Central for the first time.
Under the leadership of Mr. Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, rare zoo animals - including two leopard cats and two black bears - were successfully dispatched from Jammu to Chennai in Tamil Nadu using a special parcel coach (VPU) attached to Train No. 16032.
The animals are expected to cover the nearly 2,800-kilometre journey in approximately 54 hours, significantly shorter than road transport. Officials described the journey as one of the longest wildlife transfers from north to south India, setting a new bench...
