Srinagar, May 19 -- The HMT area is reeling under a severe crisis of drinking water and electricity, with residents forced to endure long hours without these most basic necessities, even as the administration remains indifferent to their plight.

In a statement to the press, renowned social activist Ahmad Ayaz expressed grave concern over the worsening situation, saying people are being made to suffer despite tall claims by the authorities.

Ayaz informed that areas linked with the Rangil Water Supply Scheme have faced an acute shortage for the past several days. "The supply was suspended for two days on the pretext of maintenance, and since then it has remained highly irregular and inadequate, causing immense hardship," he said.
