Srinagar, April 30 -- Congress legislator and MLA Dooru Shahabad Ghulam Ahmad Mir has urged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to introduce a scheduled halt for the Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag railway station, citing inconvenience to passengers in south Kashmir.
In a communication to the minister accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) Mir said Anantnag, being a major commercial and tourism hub, serves as a gateway to prominent destinations including Pahalgam, Verinag, Daksum and Kokernag.
He said the railway station caters to a wide catchment area comprising Kulgam, Shopian and parts of Pulwama district, with considerable daily passenger footfall of students, traders, employees, tourists and patients.
