Hakeem Yaseen claims he was placed under house arrest on Martyrs' Day
Jammu, July 13 -- Share Tweet Share Srinagar, Jul 13 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Front (PDF) president Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Monday alleged that he was not allowed to leave his residence on Martyrs' Day and was effectively placed under house arrest. In a statement, Yaseen claimed he was prevented from visiting the Martyrs' Graveyard to pay tributes to the July 13 martyrs and from carrying out his routine public engagements. He alleged that no formal order or reason was communicated to him regarding the restrictions. Yaseen said every citizen and political leader in a democratic society should have the freedom to peacefully pay homage to the martyrs, and termed the restrictions "unfortunate".
